Meditation group will start to meet on Thursdays at Joan's home.  We will sit and Daniel will do diasan with those who wish to do deep study.

Tonight?s topic is Attention and Personal Power

The past week was the study of what you put your attention on: What is attention?

Warm up exercise:  Place you hands on your knees, put your whole attention on your left hand. Really completely feel the left hand.

Attention is many things: energy, awareness, different than thought, life energy, etc.

Your attention is the only thing you have some control over.

Where you place your attention is what defines you.

Daniel went around the group twice.  The first time we were asked to identify where each of the group members placed their attention this past week:  people, lavender and beeswax comfort traditions, music in head, wanting to fix self, self-criticism, seeing, paying attention to attention, mood, healthy living, food/sex/money, body, pleasure seeking, mindless chatter, self-observation.

The second time around the group, we were asked to reflect upon the intention of our attention.  What is it for?

Group members identified:  love, beauty, enjoyment, adjustment, be better/right, truth, search for contentment, authentic reaction rather than editing, feeling good, escape, balancing things in life, life passion, balance of spiritual health.

Formula to work on:  Place your intention where you attention is, that will transform your attention.  Instead of allowing it to just happen to you, put your intention on you attention.  Really place you attention on the focusing and see what happens.

Do your attention intentionally.

Personal Power  (accessing it through a slightly different means)

Intention plus attention = chi or personal power

Start with intention followed by attention.  You are going to be what your attention is, that is what your life is going to be.  Follow your intention in life and put your attention there.

Intention + Attention - Fear = Personal Power

This formula allows you to do anything in life, it accesses and feeds tremendous personal power.

Make an intention that requires your attention.  For example, much of life is about pleasure. Seek pleasure intentionally.  Know that you are doing it and do it.  Intentional attention changes the quality of it.

When we pay attention to attention we notice mind chatter.  mental chatter is fear based survival stuff.

Be aware!  If you can?t find a marriage or melding of the spiritual being and human being (on a continuum), then you are in denial abut who you are and it ultimately take away from the pleasure of your life.
